Being a prefect is a mammoth task. To put it simply, each new day that any prefect steps into school they are met with a dozen more task to add into the "To Do List" so that later teachers, other students etc. don't have a "Why didn't you do that list?"
It is without a doubt a challenging task being an A/L student while having the many responsibilities as a prefect. It's not how capable you are in judging the two but how well you can make them balance. In my perspective, there is nothing more important than studies but with the grate honor of being named as a prefect in our respective schools, I find that there is no greater joy than representing our alma mater and bearing the many duties entrusted onto us.
Thereby by having this post, we are compelled to work as twice as hard as anyone. Whatever shortcomings we might have, using Prefectship as the reason to failure is not a commendable thing. this is where good leadership skills come in a highly respected one, Especially as a student leader it is important to be an example to our peers
The support rendered by our principle and teachers in school are very much appreciated when it come to maintaining studies and our various duties. Also a loving reminder to all prefect is that our parents always have our back. No matter how much they might scream at us it is because of their consent and guidance that we are prefect!
At the end of the day though, the only person who is going to help you, is you yourself. Therefore ambition and determination is something everyone should have in their day to day lives regardless of whether they are a prefect or not. We all want to reach somewhere and as prefects by embracing our duties while keeping up with the daily work load we can strive to better leaders and ultimately gain life lessons that will remain with us for the many years to come.
